Superstition.... Taboo....Fear...! Good? or (bat crap) Crazy?
Does anyone turn on their CPU with their feet? If u say "NO" either your CPU is right up in your face or YOU ARE A LIAR!!!
Everyone does that!!!
I've been doing it for years and I guess my mom never noticed it, she shouted at me yesterday for doing that!
"Are you crazy? how can you disrespect the Computer like that?" goes my mom, with a puffed up face. I gave her this Confused Look (o_O) (o_o) (-_-)
"What are you talking about????"
"Dont you have manners? Do you also place your feet on your books? You do know you aren't supposed to place your feet in whatever you gain help and knowledge from! This is the last time you do it OK?!"
I was confused and I was thinking to myself, my mother who criticizes the computer for my laziness and my studies, my career and my HEALTH TOOOOOO! (¬_¬) yaa you heard it right!!! HEALTH TOO, is so pissed by the fact that I "kicked" my computer!
Few weeks ago i had given an interview and had to write about whatever i wanted and i wrote exactly about this!
I remember when i was young in 6th Grade, people said that if you look at the moon on Ganesh Chaturti, you'll be falsely accused of something!

Anyway I was on the way somewhere and I happened to look at he moon! because I loved the moon and stars! I couldn't get enough of them! and then I realized "OMG WHAT HAVE I DONE"
I didn't sleep all night! Ugh! And I woke up nothing happening to
me!
I was so happy!
To this day I make sure I don’t look at the moon on Ganesh
chaturthi ! I just can’t take the risk! The fear will always be there!
Just like the fear of Cussing! Oh my I can never forget the day my
father had raised his hands when I said the “f” word! Even after he has gone I fear
that if I cuss he’ll come from somewhere & hit me (o_o)”
Any ways while I was in Singapore, I accidentally kicked someone in
the MRT as it was crowded and I did the “Indian sorry” gesture :P where you
touch the person and then ask for forgiveness to God & the person too! The
man gave me a amused and confused look & said “It’s OK”
Its force of habit, I can’t help it! It took me few seconds to
realize that he was amused by the action I did! I'm not in India. I'm in Singapore...for
these people its different!
I never really knew what the significance of that gesture was...it’s
what I was taught and so I am doing it! Later on I got to know that we believe
that God resides in everyone’s hearts, so by kicking or placing your feet in
someone you are disrespecting God indirectly (even though husbands kicking
their wife is totally fine) & it also happens to be one of the reasons we
join our hands and bow to say NAMASTE!
There are some superstitions or taboos or restrictions which are good
and some are crazy!
Like the one where you shouldn't sleep with your head towards
North! Not because its bad luck but bcuz its related to causing imbalances in
your body due to the earth's magnetic field!
Swallow Tulsi never Chew, not because its disrespectful to the
goddess tulsi but cuz swallowing will Prevent degradation of the enamel
as chewing it directly causes the teeth to become yellow or results in the
degradation of enamel
But there are some which are totally twisted for stupid reasons!
A girl shouldn't do certain things while she is menstruating like entering the kitchen and temple! The main
reason behind it was that women go through pain and discomfort and also
entering the temples was forbidden because of hygiene reasons & it might
cause unclean environment cuz sanitary
pads didn't exist back in those days!
You weren't supposed to go near the holy tulsi plant because a women’s body emits a lot
of energy during menstruation and this might affect the plants growth, also one
of the reasons not to touch pickles cuz u might spoil with so much heat & energy!
But unfortunately
slowly this became a ritual and degraded to the form
of a superstition stating that girls menstruating are IMPURE! UNHOLY! (-_-)
I remember there was a ritual going on in my native place and we didn't enter the compound of the temple as you know, unholy, impure and crap! But the priest
realized why we were outside and said that you can come inside but not much
near the actual temple! I heard him tell my uncle that the only reason girls on
their periods weren't allowed were due to hygiene reasons (and cleaning up, if
you know what I mean) and nothing else!
I mean c’mon the old priest realized it why can’t some people just
shut up and open their mind! IT’S 21ST CENTURY FOR GODSAKE!!!
